What is the Aspinall Maestro® Prepaid card?
A Prepaid card is like a pay as you go mobile phone - it's loaded with your money so you can only spend what you've topped up. The card is personalised with your name, a chip and PIN and a unique Maestro card number, so you can use it anywhere you see the Maestro acceptance mark - in shops, on the internet, here and abroad. You can check your card balance and transactions online.
How do I get an Aspinall Prepaid card?
It's a quick and easy online application! It'll only take a few minutes, you'll find out straight away if your application has been successful, and there's no paperwork to sign.
How do I qualify for an Aspinall Prepaid card?
You must be a resident of the UK and over 18 years old.
What is the minimum age for having an Aspinall Prepaid card?
You need to be 18 years or older to apply for an Aspinall Prepaid card.
Do you need to check my credit history?
An Aspinall Prepaid card doesn't offer you credit, so we don't need to run a credit check or check your credit history.
When will my PIN number arrive?
For security we don't send the card and the PIN together, they're sent out separately. If you don't receive the PIN number through the post 3 working days after your card, call our help desk on 0871 641 9981.
How do I load money onto my Aspinall Prepaid card?
You can either top-up online, or you can do a cash top-up at the Post Office.
At the Post Office counter, hand over your card and the cash that you want to load, your card will be swiped and you'll get a receipt. Your funds will be available within the next 2 working days.

One of the features we'll be adding in the future is you (or anyone who wants to give you money) will be able to set up a standing order to your card, and you'll also be able to get your wages paid straight on.
Once I've put money onto my Aspinall Prepaid card, how long until it's ready to spend?
If you've transferred money onto your Aspinall Prepaid card using our online facility, it will normally be available within a few hours. Loads at the Post Office can take up to 2 working days to credit.
Where can I use my Aspinall Prepaid card?
In shops, online, abroad, over the telephone and mail order. Your Aspinall Prepaid card is Maestro enabled, so you can use it wherever you see the Maestro acceptance mark.
To keep track of your spending every time you use your card, the balance will be checked electronically with your card company before payment is made. In some circumstances your card may be declined because there is not enough money loaded onto it. This security feature exists to protect you from spending money that you do not have.
What are the fees and costs of having and using my Aspinall Prepaid card?
The fees and charges for an Aspinall Prepaid card:
- Card application fee (if applicable) - to set up your account and provide you with a card.
- Card loading fee - to load more cash onto your prepaid card. This may vary depending on how you top-up your card (if you load funds onto your card from a bank account, you may be charged a fee by your bank).
- ATM withdrawal fee - there may be a charge for withdrawing money from an ATM (cash machine). A higher charge may apply when withdrawing money from ATMs abroad.
- Purchase or online fee - you may be charged for each transaction, or for certain types of transactions.
- There are no monthly service charges.
Can I use my Aspinall Prepaid card to withdraw money from an ATM?
You can use your Aspinall Prepaid card to withdraw money from any ATM worldwide wherever Maestro is accepted.
Can I use my Aspinall Prepaid card abroad?
You can use an Aspinall Prepaid card anywhere in the world where you see a Maestro acceptance mark.
Can I use my Aspinall Prepaid card to shop online, over the phone and by mail order?
You can use an Aspinall Prepaid card with any retailer that accepts Maestro.
Can I use my Aspinall Prepaid card to make regular payments, such as for monthly subscriptions?
An Aspinall Prepaid card can be used to make any regular payments for subscriptions that accepts Maestro.
What's the difference between a 'reloadable' and a 'non-reloadable' card?
A 'reloadable' Prepaid card can be 'topped-up' with money. Cards that are loaded once (e.g. gift cards) are 'non-reloadable' and can't be 'topped-up'.
Is there a limit to how much money I can put on my Aspinall Prepaid card?
The maximum amount per load is £300, and the maximum balance you can hold is £3000. If you have applied for Aspinall cards for members of your family as the main cardholder, the maximum across all cards in your household remains £3000.
Can I see a history of how I have used my card?
Yes, when you pay with your card, details of the transaction are stored online. This information includes the dates, locations and amounts of your transactions. All of this will appear on your online statement, so you can check and access your details easily.
I've just tried to use my Aspinall Prepaid card, but it doesn't work
If you haven't activated your card, you need to go to the Aspinall website. If you've already activated and used the card and it's stopped working, check your balance to see if there are funds available and check the expiry date on the card to make sure that it's still valid.
We have the right to cancel your Aspinall Prepaid card immediately due to any security concerns, or to comply with the law, or if we suspect fraud or misuse.

My personal details have changed, what should I do?
We need your new contact details, which you can enter by logging in to your account at the top of the page.
I need to cancel my Aspinall Prepaid Card, what should I do?
You can cancel your Aspinall Prepaid card by sending an email to us using the "contact us" function on the Website, or by writing to us at PO Box 54274, London W14 0ZA, and confirming that you have destroyed your Aspinall Prepaid card.
You have a legal right to cancel your Aspinall Prepaid card up to 14 days after you receive it without being charged the Refund Fee. You also have the right to cancel your Aspinall Prepaid card at any time after this 14 day period. If your Aspinall Prepaid card is cancelled we will block it immediately so that it cannot be used.
What happens if my card gets lost or is stolen?
If your Aspinall Prepaid card is lost or stolen, you must report it to customer services immediately on 0871 641 9981, or via the Report lost/stolen button within your online account. Upon doing so, your money will be frozen so no one else can use the card.
